June 2008 GHOSTWATCH NEWSLETTER
The official ghostly newsletter of Richard and Debbie Senate

Mr. Senate writes for new Ojai Newspaper

The new Ojai Newspaper, The View, has began publication and Mr. Senate has joined the staff with a new column entitled "Weird News." It will feature strange and odd items of interest not just ghosts. "Dont worry," he said in a phone conversation. "I will still have lots of ghosts and haunted houses but it will also have UFOs and Monsters as well as anything else that strikes my fancy. Right now I am looking into an Ojai dog who can talk." The newspaper is the resurrection of the old paper, "The Voice," that operated until last December when the owner/publisher, Jeff San Marchi suddenly passed away. The paper will be distributed in Ojai, Ventura, Camarillo, Malibu and Hollywood.

Psychic Experiment!

A small adobe house stands at 215 West Main Street Ventura, California. It is the 1857 Ortega Adobe. Mr. Senate would like you to try your skills as a ghost hunter at this unique location. It has a reputation of being haunted so it
s an ideal place to try your skills. It is free of charge and is open most days. Quiet yourself and tour the three room building. You may try any number of experiments from dowsing rods to recording EMF unit readings. If you would like a special challenge, and if you do not have reservations, you may try this experiment. To do this experiment you will need a tape or digital recorder and a standard Ouija Board. With a group use the board at the location making sure that the recorder is touching the board. Use the board in the normal way following these instructions. A) Do not ask any negative questions. Use new tape in the recorder. C) If you feel apprehensive or if you receive negative messages stop the session at once! D) Do not use alcohol or any mind-altering substance in conducting this experiment. E) Keep notes on all you do and ask. F) Play back the tape, and listen to the session (about 30 minutes is best) using a headset. Be alert for whispered extra voices. They may well be recordings of ghosts. (EVP). Contact Mr. Senate if you get anything.

Richard Senate now on myspace.com

"After many years I have gotten a myspace page on the internet," commented Mr. Senate. "I thought it was only something for teenage girls and such until a friend said it might be a good way to network with people in the ghost hunting field. I put it up and I was pleased with the results." He managed to re-new old friendships with fellow ghost hunters including his long time friend Janice Oberding, the expert on Nevada Ghosts and Haunted Places. Because of this contact, he and his wife Debbie, will be taking part in the Las Vegas ghost conference planned for the coming October. Mr. Senate will be offering a lecture on his ghostly findings. More on this important conference in future newsletters. New ghost sightings

A visitor to the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach confirms that she encountered a ghostly boy in cabin M125.

The boy was wearing a grey knickers and a short jacket in the styles of the 1930s. The boy seemed sad and confused when it appeared next to the witness
s bed at about 11:45 P.M. Others report an increase in sightings on the old ship.

The old Mission San Fernando continues to have sightings.

This time in the dinning room of the
"convento"
building. A ghostly woman was seen by two boys as they toured the site last month. The phantom women was short, overweight and had long black hair. She seemed to be a Native American woman, and was wearing a white dress with a sort of blue shawl and black sash. The woman was smiling in a welcoming way and there was a smell of cooking food, like meat or steak, at the time of the sighting. This took place at about 3:30, just before closing time.

Not all ghosts are as friendly as this. Recently a visitor to Gromans Chinese Theater in Hollywood went to the rest room only to find herself alone and embraced by a sudden and frightening cold. She felt as if she was in grave danger. She was alone but left the bathroom and returned to her seat. It disturbed her all night long. She got the impression that someone was killed in the bathroom at some point in time. No records exist of such a crime.

If you have a sighting or hear of one, contact this newsletter and we will post it. Maybe others have encountered the same thing or may have a similar story.

DVD of Glen Tavern investigation is almost done.

The editing of the DVD of the investigation was hampered when several strange things were discovered in the tape. These images and sounds will enhance the tape even more. It is hoped that the DVD will be ready for sale in July.

Strange warning.

Mr. Senate has received two phone calls warning him not to proceed with the investigation of the Old Mission Santa Barbara. He was planning a tour to the site to conduct several experiments. He is rethinking his plans now after the threatening calls.

"Dont go to Santa Barbara," said a harsh voice, "If you know whats good for you. There are evil things there. Youre messing with something you know nothing about." The phone went dead at that point. Another caller, this time a woman, said "You will unlock a door that had best be kept locked. Dont do Santa Barbara." Phone calls came after thatno voices just calls at all hours. Due to the nature of the calls, the Senates have disconnected their phone.

QUESTION: Should The Senates continue to plan an investigation of Santa Barbara? Would you go if you knew there is an element of danger?

Please contact Mr. Senate via his e-mail and let him know (HaintHunter@aol.com) . He is thinking of canceling the investigation. "Do I need this?" he asked.

We at Ghostwatch believe he must continue in the interest of the new science of parapsychology. Mr. Senate believe the calls might be the work of pranksters, a religious cult, or a band of Satanic worshipers linked to the site, across the street from the old Spanish Mission.

Quote to Remember: I do not feel myself authorized to reject all ghost stories; from however improbable one taken alone might appear, the mass of them taken together command some credence.
