Ghost Sited At The Dudley House in Ventura

On the night of Saturday April 2 a ghostly woman was seen at the window of the historic farm house, now a museum, in Ventura. This appartition was seen at 10:30 at night when no functions were being held at the restored home.  The figure was that of a woman in a pink Victorian dress with a high collar. The woman was wearing her hair in a bun-style popular over a century ago. The management of the house museum responded by admitting that nothing of this sort has been seen in the past but that things have appeared in the old place such as items being misplaced and some visitors reporting odd feelings. More work is needed to confirm or deny the presence of a ghost here.

Glen Tavern Inn A Success!

On April 19th, Sunday, s select group visited the historic 1911 inn and enjoyed lunch and toured the three story hotel. They were not disappointed as readings picked up high EM fields in the same spots where there have been found before. The tour proved both entertaining and helped to secure more information on this important haunted site in Santa Paula. "I may well do another tour on the place," commented Mr. Senate. "There are so many supernatural events happening her on a consistent basis that it begs to be investigated." Debbie also felt the presence here and added her comments on what she felt here. It was a fun time for all. Keep in touch for further investigations.

Debbie and Richard celebrate 24 years of marriage

Richard and Debbie were married at the Haunted Victorian Rose Wedding Chapel in Ventura on May 4 1985 . They Honeymooned in San Francisco visiting such haunted spots as the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point and Alcatraz Island.

“We ate our way through Chinatown,” recalls Richard. “We were almost mugged at night in Korea town but had some great Kimchee.  We rode the cable cars and saw all the museums and tours. It was a wonderful time.”

“Richard almost walked my legs off,” remembers Debbie. “It was a bit like boot camp for me. But we had a great dinner at Neptune’s Grotto on Fisherman’s Wharf and the largest sundae I have ever had at Ghirardelli’s. I will never forget the trip!”

Richard and Debbie have more modest plans for this anniversary, but they hope to do it big for the next year...their 25th Anniversary!

Quote to Remember:

All houses in which men have lived and died

Are haunted houses: through the open doors

The harmless phantoms on their errands glide

With feet that make no sound upon the floors.

——Henry Wordsworth Longfellow

The Passing of A Giant; Dr. Hans Holzer

May 2, 2009

Dr. Hans Holzer is gone.  The man who opened the door for all of the ghost hunters out there started it all with his books in the 1950s on ghosts and Haunted Houses.   He even believed that he coined the very tern "ghost hunter" (he didn't, the Reverend Doge used the term in the 17th Century ) but he did make it a popular term world-wide.  He took a great deal of heat for his stand on the paranormal at a time when it wasn't a popular subject of conversation. He took the study of the paranormal from its morbund state into something that slowly gained respectability in the world. As a professor of psychology at New York University he added credibility to this study.  Dr. Holzer had been in poor health for many years.  He passed away a few days ago at the age of 89 leaving a library of books and many new converts and followers all over the world.  He was the man who opened the door for all the ghost hunters and paranormal investigators who followed.  All of us who continue the study of the unknown owe him a great debt of gratitude.  I had the distinct pleasure of meeting him once. He was a pleasant man who did his best to help all those who were coming up in the field.  He will be missed, but he will never be forgotten.
